Shipping Clerk I - Sterling Heights, Warren, and Livonia Michigan Contract Position - Day Shift position Pay Rate: up to $21.00 per hour (based on proven work history)
Description of the Shipping Clerk I:
Process packages for deliveries using UPS and FedEx software
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Dynamics AX Software
Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties:
Compares identifying information and counts, weights, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bill of lading, invoices, orders, or other records
Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons
Inserts items into containers
Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape
Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers
Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage
Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and/or shortages. Routes items to departments
Loads all welding and assembly systems on flatbed truck for delivery to customer plants. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area
Plan shipments and organizes transportation for customer deliveries
Performs light maintenance and cleaning of company owned trucks
Keeps the Shipping and Receiving area clean and neat at all times
Understands and follows safety & environmental regulations and identifies safety/environmental concerns
Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvement
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job
Education and Experience Requirements of the Shipping Clerk I:
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
At least 2 years Shipping & Receiving experience
At least 2 years of Hi-lo experience
