Manufacturing Assembly Technician — ERP & BOM Workflow

Picture your day starting on a clean, well-organized production floor. You review your queue in the ERP, pull the job traveler and bill of materials (BOM), and get to work assembling product to precise specifications. You move between assembly, in-process (WIP) checks, and machine setups—verifying each step against standards so finished goods meet quality expectations. Throughout the shift, you log material transactions, complete process paperwork, and keep management updated on results, priorities, and progress in support of company initiatives, policies, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

  • Assemble product following BOMs, work instructions, job travelers, and verbal guidance.
  • Ensure finished goods are completed to quality standards and meet specifications.
  • Perform WIP inspections and verify product conformance to specification(s).
  • Set up production machines, complete equipment verifications, and operate machinery safely.
  • Identify and report machine issues promptly; perform machine/equipment inspections.
  • Order and stage materials based on current job requirements and ERP signals.
  • Package customer orders for shipment.
  • Follow written and oral work instructions accurately.
  • Keep assigned areas neat, orderly, and safe.
  • Support other assigned duties as needed.

How You’ll Work

  • Use ERP software and complete all required process paperwork and data entry.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Report work results, priorities, progress, and related activities to management.

Physical Demands

  • Stand and walk for 8+ hours per day.
  • Lift and move packages up to 50 lbs.
  • Climb step stools/small ladders; bend and stoop as tasks require.
  • Use hand tools regularly, including air drivers and wrenches.
  • Troubleshoot and problem-solve in real time.

Background That Helps You Succeed

Knowledge

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • Hands-on use of basic hand tools (e.g., air drivers, wrenches).
  • Operation of heavy equipment such as a forklift or lift truck.
  • 1 year of related assembly experience preferred.
  • Basic data entry proficiency.

Skills

  • Work independently and collaborate effectively on a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and hand–eye coordination.
  • Clear communication and teamwork.
  • Solid reading and math abilities.
  • Reliable work ethic and stamina.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to multitask.
