The role at a glance
- Location: Lexington, North Carolina (on-site at our passenger railcar manufacturing plant)
- Focus: Commissioning, fault isolation, and repair of complex electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems on rolling stock
- Environment: Collaborative, fast-evolving, hands-on production setting
What you will do
- Bring locomotive and coach cars online through structured electrical and mechanical commissioning steps.
- Diagnose, document, and correct defects in a timely manner.
- Leverage advanced diagnostic test equipment and PTU’s to analyze onboard systems.
- Interpret electrical/electronic schematics and technical documentation.
- Adhere to and promote company and industry safety standards.
- Draft concise technical reports and communicate status and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Operate effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
What you need
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of experience in electrical testing.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting capability.
- Preferred: Associate’s degree in engineering, mechatronics, or a related field.
Physical requirements
- Comfort working in non-climate-controlled areas when required.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and handle tools/parts.
- Frequent verbal communication; occasional odor detection.
- Lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
- Vision: close and distance vision, color differentiation, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary (Lexington, NC): $41,004 – $48,042 (final offer may be above or below based on budget and your experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications).
