Architectural Wood Finishing Specialist

Bring architectural millwork to life

Step into the shop each morning, review the finish schedule and shop drawings, and set up your spray booth for a day of precise, consistent work. You’ll prepare substrates, mix and match stains to approved samples, and apply protective finishes that stand up to commercial use—all while keeping safety, quality, and timelines front and center.

A day in the role

You start by sanding, filling, masking, and cleaning surfaces so they’re ready to accept finish. With your spray gun dialed in, you apply stains, paints, lacquers, sealers, and topcoats using both spray equipment and hand tools. Throughout the day, you compare color against standards, perform touch-ups as needed, and keep a sharp eye out for defects. You’ll collaborate with production to hit deadlines, and you’ll maintain your equipment, spray booth, and workspace so the next pass is as clean as the first. Safety never takes a back seat—PPE, ventilation, and chemical handling procedures are part of your routine.
