Pretium Packaging is hiring an experienced, hands-on Process Engineer to support our St. Louis, Missouri plant. You’ll be the technical heartbeat of our injection-blow molding operations, ensuring every container we produce meets exacting specifications for our customers across North America.
A day in this role
- Arrive on the floor, review prior-shift check sheets, and turn findings into targeted corrective actions.
- Start up new and existing equipment, perform loop checks, calibrate systems, and verify proper operation before releasing lines to production.
- Respond to urgent work orders, diagnosing software and hardware issues to quickly restore uptime.
- Direct safe, spec-compliant installations for new systems with both internal teams and vendors.
- Define and maintain internal quality control plans, including gauging methods and inspection frequencies.
- Set up new projects: lead tool changes, refine programs, and assist production teams to hit rate and quality targets.
- Troubleshoot process deviations, recommend alternatives to protect the schedule, and maintain product quality.
- Modify existing systems—software and circuitry—to achieve project objectives.
- Recommend improvements that enhance safety, reliability, and productivity for new and existing equipment.
- Monitor changeovers to ensure they’re completed on time and correctly.
- Verify preventive maintenance is performed and documented to standard.
- Champion housekeeping and safe operating practices across the department.
- Ensure weekly setup sheets are complete, flag deviations from standards, and drive follow-up.
- Investigate and resolve product quality issues using structured root-cause methods.
- Diagnose equipment breakdowns, then replace or rebuild machine components as needed.
- Set up molding machines and trimmers: align/install molds; set cycle times, air pressures, and water temperatures; position the labeler; change over/adjust reamer and trim stations; configure material inspection systems; and tune sequence timing.
- Coordinate production schedules for maximum efficiency and throughput.
- Establish process parameters and run conditions for new molds/tooling to achieve best efficiency.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in mechanical/plastics engineering or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with reheat blow processes and automation.
- Familiarity with Aoki (ISBM/IBM/IM), Uniloy (IBM), and Zhongya (IM) equipment.
- Demonstrated strength in root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
- Experience setting oven profiles and working with infeed/outfeed conveyors.
- Effective leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to lead and drive project teams.
- Strong organization and attention to detail.
- Training or experience in Lean Manufacturing practices.
- Ability to travel and train across the region as needed.
