Wastewater Technician – Multiple Shifts

Shifts: 1st, 2nd, 3rd & Weekend (Night or Day Shift)

About the Position

We are hiring a Wastewater Technician for an established metal recycling facility in Hartford, CT. This is a direct-hire opportunity responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining industrial wastewater treatment systems used in the metal washing process.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of wastewater treatment experience or a background working with chemicals and pH testing. You should be comfortable monitoring treatment equipment, performing water quality testing, documenting results, and troubleshooting basic process issues in an industrial environment.

Pay

• $20–$25/hr – Non-certified operators working 2nd, 3rd, or weekend shifts

• $25–$36/hr – Actively certified wastewater operators working 1st shift

Schedule

Training: First 2–4 weeks on 1st Shift

1st Shift – Monday–Friday:

7:00 AM–3:30 PM

Active Wastewater Operator certification required

2nd Shift – Monday–Friday:

3:00 PM–11:00 PM

3rd Shift – Monday–Friday:

11:00 PM–7:00 AM

Weekend Night Shift (Weekend day shift available also):

• Thursday: 10:30 PM–7:00 AM

• Friday: 10:30 PM–11:00 AM

• Saturday: 10:30 PM–11:00 AM

• Sunday: 10:30 PM–7:00 AM

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and adjust industrial wastewater treatment and metal washing systems.

• Monitor pumps, tanks, filters, chemical feed systems, and related treatment equipment.

• Perform routine water quality testing and accurately record results.

• Collect samples and monitor treatment system performance.

• Troubleshoot basic wastewater treatment issues and communicate problems to maintenance or supervision.

• Complete daily operating logs, inspection reports, and required documentation.

• Safely unload and move incoming materials using a forklift. Training will be provided if needed.

• Sort, weigh, label, and prepare recycled materials for production.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

• Follow all company safety, environmental, and quality procedures.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of wastewater treatment experience OR experience working with chemicals and pH testing.

• Experience in an industrial, manufacturing, municipal, or similar environment.

• Understanding of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and water quality testing.

• Ability to monitor treatment systems and make necessary process adjustments.

• Experience maintaining operating logs and documenting treatment data.

• Forklift experience is preferred; willingness to become certified is required.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Basic computer and documentation skills.

• Willingness to work overnight and/or weekend shifts as required.
