A Day in the Life
You’ll arrive to a clean, organized workcell and review process sheets and blueprints before setting up CNC equipment. You’ll load programs, verify tooling, and run tight-tolerance operations—turning, drilling, milling, tapping, and occasionally resistance spot welding. Throughout the shift, you’ll inspect parts, adjust offsets, troubleshoot, and document results in the ERP system—partnering with programmers, supervisors, and support teams to keep production flowing.
What You’ll Do
- Set up and run various CNC machines to produce precision aerospace components within tight tolerances
- Work from process sheets, blueprints, setup documentation, and both written and verbal instructions
- Install, re-cut, and machine chuck jaws; load and secure tooling in machine turrets
- Use hand tools and manual equipment as needed; perform complete machine setups
- Download/upload programs and make minor program edits; fine-tune offsets for material, tooling, and machine conditions
- Troubleshoot basic issues and make appropriate adjustments to maintain quality and throughput
- Set up and verify preset gauges for proper calibration
- Inspect your own work and, as required, verify the work of other machinists; complete all required quality documentation
- Train less experienced machinists when needed; rotate across department work centers and run multiple machines
- Enter production/quality data into the ERP system; support continuous improvement/RBS activities
- Load and unload component parts up to 25 lbs; lift up to 50 lbs and stand for the full shift
What You Bring
- Experience running at least two of the following: CNC lathe, CNC mill, or resistance spot welder; solid intermediate setup capability
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of CNC machining experience with knowledge of CNC principles and methods
- Ability to read/interpret blueprints and work instructions in English
- Comfort with basic math for measurements and offsets
- External candidates must pass a Machinist test measuring mechanical aptitude
- Ability to stand an entire shift and lift up to 50 lbs; frequent handling of lighter parts and tooling
Core Proficiencies
- CNC machine setup and changeover
- Precision measurement and hand metrology
Total Rewards
- Competitive hourly pay plus shift differential for 2nd & 3rd shift
- Medical, Dental, Vision, STD, LTD, AD&D, Life Insurance
- 401(k) with company match, HSA & FSA accounts
