Medical Laboratory Scientist

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join a leading clinical laboratory team in Houston, TX. In this role, you will perform routine and specialized laboratory testing using established analytical methodologies to support accurate diagnosis and patient care. The ideal candidate will have experience in clinical laboratory operations, specimen analysis, quality control, and laboratory instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized clinical laboratory testing according to established procedures.
• Receive, process, prepare, and analyze patient specimens with accuracy and efficiency.
• Conduct analytical examinations and ensure timely reporting of test results.
• Perform quality control (QC) procedures and maintain quality assurance (QA) standards.
• Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
• Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and comply with CAP, CLIA, OSHA, and institutional policies.
• Monitor inventory levels of laboratory supplies and reagents.
• Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and infection control standards.
• Participate in proficiency testing and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Molecular Genetic Technology, or a related laboratory science field.
• OR completion of an accredited Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science program.
• Minimum one (1) year of clinical laboratory experience (required with a Bachelor's degree).
• Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and quality control practices.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASCP certification as one of the following:- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)

  • Medical Technologist (MT)
  • Blood Banking (BB)
  • Chemistry (C)
  • Hematology (H)
  • Microbiology (M)
  • Molecular Biology (MB)

• AMT Medical Technologist (MT) or Molecular Diagnostics Technologist (MDT) certification.

• ASHI Certified Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT).
