CNC Machine Tool Field Service Specialist

A day in the life

You roll out to customer sites across the Chicagoland area, coffee in hand and tools in the truck. Morning might start with a new CNC installation; by lunch you’re deep into a preventive maintenance checklist; afternoon brings a quick diagnostic that gets a machining center back online. Because your gas is covered and you’ve got a car allowance, company phone, and laptop, you’re free to focus on what you do best—working on cutting-edge machines and turning customers into raving fans.

What you’ll tackle

• Own day-to-day field service across the local territory—new machine installations, commissioning, and scheduled PMs for CNC equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair machine tool systems, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components.
• Resolve customer issues promptly; provide technical support to sales and deliver basic operator training when needed.
• Communicate clearly with customers, teammates, and partners in a professional, solutions-first manner.
• Represent Ellison Technologies ethically and professionally; align actions with business expectations.
• Take full ownership of your service cases and projects; maintain accurate customer records and technical documentation.
• Contribute to related tasks as the situation calls for—flexibility is part of the job.

What you bring

• Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and repairing CNC machining centers and CNC turning centers.
• Well-developed troubleshooting and repair skills spanning mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

• In accordance with Illinois law, the expected salary range for this California position is between $30/hr - $50+/hr. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
