Dimensional Inspection Programmer — CMM/Metrology

Reports to: Quality and Safety Manager

Are you the person who...

  • Builds bulletproof CMM routines that catch issues before they escape?
  • Loves collaborating with machinists and engineers to dial in critical features?
  • Can turn complex customer specs and GD&T into clear, repeatable inspection plans?

Your impact

  • Own FAIR, sample, and final inspections for high-precision machined parts.
  • Program and operate multiple CMMs, generating reliable, efficient measurement programs to customer requirements (Calypso experience a plus).
  • Design fixtures for stable setups and quick changeovers.
  • Continuously improve inspection processes to achieve zero escapes.
  • Partner with engineering and manufacturing engineering to optimize strategies for tight tolerances and critical characteristics.
  • Maintain CMM health: probe qualifications, calibrations, and routine cleaning.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on inspection equipment.
  • Establish inspection criteria by interpreting customer specifications and military standards.
  • Complete shipping documentation, certifying conformance before product leaves the building.
  • Train and mentor coworkers to elevate team capability.
  • Report to and take direction from the quality lead; collaborate cross-functionally to keep data flowing.
  • Accurately record time, attendance, and inventory through required paperwork and production reporting.
  • Keep a tidy, safe workstation aligned to 6S and all safety policies; comply with all safe practices, policies, and regulations.
  • Jump in on other duties as assigned.

Must-haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or 8 years’ related experience in lieu of degree.
  • 4+ years in Quality Control or Machining.
  • Direct CMM programming and operation experience.
  • Advanced print reading with expert-level GD&T; experience with military specifications.
  • Understanding of manufacturing methods and logistics administration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Lean and quality system exposure: ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, AS9100D.
  • Zeiss Calypso programming experience.

Proficiencies

  • GD&T mastery.
  • Equipment diagnostics and general troubleshooting skills.
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).

Tools of the trade

  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), with emphasis on Zeiss platforms.
