Industrial Controls Electrician

A day in the life

When the plant starts humming, you’re the expert ensuring every circuit and control keeps pace. You’ll move from interpreting schematics to diagnosing a finicky motor drive, then pivot to tuning instrumentation or swapping a transmitter that’s drifting off-spec. Preventative checks keep downtime at bay, while your documentation in the CMMS makes the next fix even faster.

What you’ll tackle

  • Perform electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair across industrial machinery and facility systems
  • Diagnose and service motors, drives, starters, breakers, transformers, and control circuits
  • Read and apply electrical schematics, blueprints, and detailed wiring diagrams
  • Work with PLCs, instrumentation, and electronic control platforms
  • Replace and install components including motors, valves, thermocouples, and transmitters
  • Execute and support preventative maintenance to improve reliability and reduce unplanned stops
  • Enter and track work orders in CMMS; identify and source required parts
  • Operate mobile equipment and assist with rigging when needed
  • Champion safety procedures while keeping the workspace orderly and clean

What you bring

  • Hands-on industrial electrical maintenance experience (required)
  • Proven troubleshooting ability across electrical and control systems
  • Background with PLCs, instrumentation, and industrial automation (preferred)
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Knowledge of power distribution and AC/DC circuits
  • Proficiency with hand tools, electrical test instruments, and precision measuring devices
  • Comfort working independently as well as collaboratively

Work environment and physical demands

  • Lift up to 100 lbs
  • Work at heights, in confined spaces, and across varying temperature conditions
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and repetitive motion
  • Comfort operating in areas with dust, fumes, and typical industrial conditions

Additional information

  • Must pass an electrical aptitude test
  • Safety-first mindset at all times
