CNC Turning Center Setup & Process Machinist — Large Components

Snapshot of the role

  • Set up and run CNC lathes and mills (2–5 axis) for precision, low-volume work.
  • Translate drawings into process steps, select tooling, and set accurate offsets.
  • Verify quality with micrometers, calipers, and hand metrology tools.
  • Keep machines in top shape with routine maintenance.
  • Partner with teammates to troubleshoot efficiently and maintain safety and quality standards.

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years CNC setup and operation experience.
  • Own machinist tools.
  • G-code knowledge plus CAD/CAM competency.
  • Blueprint reading with GD&T comprehension.
  • Full command of tool offsets and changeovers.
  • Ability to follow written instructions and procedures; strong math and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities you’ll own

  • Read/interpret blueprints to plan efficient setups and operations.
  • Enter programs, adjust parameters, and perform basic program troubleshooting.
  • Use precision instruments to confirm critical dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform regular machine maintenance and sustain optimal performance.
  • Collaborate to resolve machining issues quickly and correctly.
