IATF 16949/ISO 9001 Lead Internal Auditor

Are You the Auditor Who Sees What Others Miss?

If you’re energized by uncovering process gaps and turning findings into sustainable improvements, this role is for you. In a precision machining environment serving automotive customers, you will champion compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific expectations—while helping teams build robust, repeatable processes.

Your Mission

  • Lead and conduct internal audits across product, process, and system domains—including layer and compliance audits.
  • Represent the organization in customer, supplier, and third-party audits with well-documented, evidence-based responses.
  • Verify execution against control plans, work instructions, SOPs, and inspection plans at the point of use.
  • Capture nonconformances clearly, document results, and drive CAPA through to verified effectiveness.
  • Keep audit reports, quality records, and associated documentation complete and organized.
  • Confirm calibration and inspection records are accurate and maintained.
  • Audit CNC machining operations, tooling and fixturing, and measurement methods.
  • Evaluate GD&T application and inspection approaches for FAI, in-process checks, and final inspections.
  • Support root cause investigations with 5 Whys, Fishbone analysis, and PFMEA reviews.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering, Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to identify risks, trends, and opportunities.
  • Advance continuous improvement to reduce scrap, increase process capability, and prevent defects.

How You’ll Work

You’ll split your time between the floor and the conference room—observing, sampling, and interviewing, then synthesizing what you learn into actionable insights that teams can execute.

What You Need to Succeed

  • 2+ years of experience in quality auditing or quality assurance within manufacturing.
  • Experience in precision machining and/or automotive manufacturing environments.
  • Working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and automotive quality tools.
  • Fluency in GD&T, blueprint reading, and inspection methodologies.
  • Hands-on use of calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMMs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality management systems.

What Sets You Apart

A bias toward facts, an eye for detail, and the ability to collaborate across functions to make improvements stick.
