Advanced Laser Cutting and CNC Setup Technician

Do tight tolerances energize you? Do you move seamlessly from CNC consoles to fiber and/or CO2 laser controls—and know exactly how to tweak parameters by material and thickness? If you speak G-code and are comfortable inside CAD/CAM environments like Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Mastercam, keep reading. Your Mission

Turn drawings into parts with speed and accuracy while engineering the fixtures that make repeatability effortless. You’ll ensure machines run safely and efficiently, confirm every part meets dimensional and surface finish specs, and document your settings so wins can be repeated across shifts.

You Will Own

• Setting up and operating CNC and laser cutting machines (fiber and/or CO2) to produce precision components.
• Reading and applying technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files.
• Performing routine maintenance and championing safe, efficient machine operation.
• Developing and optimizing manual CNC and laser programs using G codes and/or CAD/CAM software (Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Mastercam).
• Adjusting cutting parameters to match material type and thickness, ensuring quality while minimizing waste.
• Designing and coordinating fabrication of custom holding tools, jigs, and fixtures to shorten setup time and support throughput.
• Collaborating closely with engineering and production so tooling aligns with safety and performance standards.
• Assisting with programming and integrating robotic systems for automated material handling or secondary operations (asset).
• Driving automation efforts to improve workflow and reduce manual labor.
• Inspecting finished parts using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Verifying that every component hits dimensional and surface finish requirements.
• Keeping thorough records of machine settings, programs, and maintenance activities.
• Participating in continuous improvement and offering feedback on process enhancements.

You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent (required); technical diploma or associate degree in machining, manufacturing, or mechatronics (preferred).
• At least 3 years’ experience operating and programming CNC and laser cutting equipment.
• Fluency in CAD/CAM and G-code programming.
• Strong grasp of mechanical drawings, tolerances, and material properties.
• Demonstrated ability to design and fabricate custom tooling and fixtures.
• Familiarity with robotic systems such as FANUC, ABB, or KUKA (plus).
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Environment & Safety

• Manufacturing floor setting with exposure to machinery, noise, natural elements, and metalworking processes.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
