Day-in-the-life

Your evening begins as the plant winds down—and our third shift gears up. You review the maintenance plan, gather the right tools and parts, and head to the line for a quick visual inspection. You’ll:

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, from lubrication and cleaning to tightening and aligning components.
  • Check fluids, replace worn parts, and calibrate sensors and gauges to keep performance on spec.
  • Run diagnostic tests to assess machine health, then investigate symptoms with diagnostic tools to pinpoint root causes.
  • Plan minor to moderate repairs—identifying materials, replacement parts, and specialty tools needed.
  • Document all work: parts used, procedures performed, and observations for follow-up.
  • Offer recommendations for future adjustments or repairs to boost reliability.
  • Support equipment projects, including installation, modification, and relocation of machinery.
  • Follow technical documentation such as manuals, schematics, blueprints, and P&IDs to execute tasks precisely.
  • Maintain your own tools and shop equipment, keeping everything in safe, working order.
  • Help manage common-stock supplies—inventorying, placing orders, receiving, and verifying materials.
  • Collaborate across the team—taking guidance from senior mechanics and assisting junior teammates with routine questions.
  • Complete all paperwork tied to your work: work orders, parts requests, PM and runtime inspections, downtime and RCA reports.
  • Adhere to company safety procedures and operational standards at every step.

Schedule

  • Third Shift: 10:30pm – 6:30am
