About the opportunity
Chipton-Ross is hiring an Industrial Systems Engineer to support an Executive Fleet aerospace program in San Antonio, TX. This is a 12+ month contract, 100% onsite, focused on optimizing production schedules, resources, and flow in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
A day in the life
Morning starts on the factory floor aligning production milestones with a precedence network you manage. You review capacity and constraints, then adjust crew cycling and recovery plans for the week. By mid-day, you’re partnering with manufacturing, planning, and quality to validate an operating plan using models, simulations, and statistical analyses. In the afternoon, you’ll dive into analytics—OPE trends, schedule adherence, and critical-chain visibility—identifying alternate workable jobs to keep the line moving. You’ll close the day by updating the chit board, socializing risks, and preparing the next iteration of the plan.
What you’ll own
- Build and refine precedence networks that tie directly to production milestones and deliverables.
- Develop operating and recovery plans on weekly/bi‑weekly cycles, using constraint-based scheduling and crew cycling.
- Perform capacity and bottleneck analyses; conduct overall process effectiveness studies to reduce cost, improve schedule, and elevate quality.
- Provide monthly “barge support”: schedule development and analysis, OPE reviews, data analytics, critical-chain visibility, alternate job identification, and chit board updates.
- Apply engineering methods—mathematical modeling, simulation, and statistics—to design optimal processes and resource utilization (facilities, people, materials, equipment).
- Plan work, analyze production data (historical trends and impacts), and recommend staffing and process improvements.
Must-have qualifications
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
- 2–5 years in project planning, scheduling, and/or project management.
- 2–5 years as an Industrial or Production Engineer in a factory setting.
- Familiarity with manufacturing operations and planning, reading engineering drawings/specs, and lean principles (certifications preferred).
- Programming proficiency in languages such as Python, SAS, VBA, and SQL.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
Preferred experience
- Aurora scheduling tools.
- IVT/Redars.
- Production analytics and/or Operations Research.
Role context
- Non-managerial, non-lead position within a multi-functional team.
- Comfortable operating in a high-pressure, fast-paced program environment.
- Successful completion of required training is a contingency of assignment (OJT or classroom).
Education
Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering or a related ABET-accredited STEM field.
Schedule and location
- 100% onsite in San Antonio, TX.
- Open to 1st and 2nd shift; variable shifts possible. Candidates unable to work all/variable shifts should not apply.
- Overtime and weekend work as required.
Physical requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, and board aircraft via steps or ladders.
- Comfort climbing and descending stairs.
