Industrial Maintenance Mechanic — Milwaukee, WI

Aegis is partnering with a manufacturing client in Milwaukee, WI to add a hands-on maintenance professional to the team. If you thrive in an industrial setting and enjoy solving tough equipment challenges, this role is built for you.

A day in the role

You start the day reviewing preventive maintenance tasks in the CMMS, prioritizing work orders and preparing parts. A line goes down—an intermittent sensor fault. You dive into wiring diagrams, trace the circuit, and swap a faulty switch to get production moving again. Later, you service hydraulic and pneumatic components, verify alignment, and document findings in email for the shift leads. Before wrap-up, you log completed PMs, update Excel/Word checklists, and plan the next maintenance window.

What you’ll handle

  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Diagnose electromechanical issues, including work with switches and sensors.
  • Interpret wiring diagrams to resolve equipment breakdowns quickly and safely.
  • Read and follow blueprints and detailed work instructions; act on internal communications from managers.
  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance using a CMMS and document all work.
  • Use Microsoft Excel and Word to track maintenance activities; communicate and record issues/resolutions via email.

What makes you a match

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years in a maintenance role.
  • Manufacturing background—heavier or similar industrial environments preferred.
  • Proven equipment repair experience.
  • Comfort working on electromechanical systems (switches, sensors).
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams during breakdowns.
  • Broad exposure to mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric systems.
  • Blueprint literacy and strong comprehension of complex instructions and internal communications.
  • Maintenance planning and preventive maintenance experience within a CMMS.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word (or equivalents).
  • Email proficiency with organized documentation of issues and resolutions.

Nice to have

  • Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance.
  • PLC/automation exposure or experience.
  • Coursework toward Journeyman maintenance mechanic technology.
