Control Valve Field Service Technologist — Las Vegas, NV

You’ll service and repair valves, actuators, and instrumentation across customer sites and in our Las Vegas shop, with travel across NV, CA, and AZ — especially during your first-year training, which includes extended trips and some overnights.

Pay

$28.00–$34.00 per hour. This range reflects what Caltrol reasonably expects to pay at posting. Final base pay considers internal equity and may vary by geography, skills, qualifications, experience, and position requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform the majority of work at customer facilities; complete repairs in the Caltrol shop as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair control valves, pneumatic/hydraulic actuators, and related instrumentation.
  • Support repair teams at other Caltrol locations throughout the West Coast.
  • Manage local pick-up/delivery of valves to and from customer sites.
  • Uphold shop readiness — maintain tools, test equipment, and work areas.
  • Safely drive and operate a company service truck for field assignments.
  • Maintain required training, classes, and credentials for site access.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • 2–3 years as a field service or instrumentation technician, or equivalent electro-mechanical experience.
  • 2–3 years specifically on control valves.
  • Knowledge of valve, pneumatic, and hydraulic actuators.
  • Background handling shipping, receiving, and inventory.
  • Ability to interpret work instructions, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
  • Strong mechanical foundation; welding experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean record, and safe operation of company vehicles.
  • Excellent customer service with clear written and verbal communication.
  • Prior training in instrumentation, control, or isolation valves preferred.

Travel & physical requirements

  • Frequent travel to Emerson, other Caltrol sites, and customer facilities; some overnights.
  • Comfort with hand/power tools; ability to work in confined spaces or at height.
