Position: CNC Machinist (Lathe / Mill) – Multiple Openings
Location: Chicagoland Area (West & South Suburbs)
Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday – Friday (Overtime Available)
Compensation: $25 – $35+/hr (Based on Experience)
Employment Type: Direct Hire & Contract-to-Hire Options Available
A growing group of precision manufacturing companies in the Chicagoland area is seeking experienced CNC Machinists to support increased production demand and expansion efforts. These opportunities are within stable, well-established organizations ranging from family-owned machine shops to rapidly scaling manufacturers supporting industries such as aerospace, medical, defense, and data center infrastructure.
These are hands-on roles in high-mix, low-volume environments, offering variety in daily work, exposure to complex parts, and the ability to contribute to process improvements and operational growth.
• Set up and operate CNC lathes and/or mills to produce precision-machined parts
• Install tooling, set offsets, and perform first-piece inspections
• Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings
• Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
• Make program edits and offset adjustments to maintain tight tolerances
• Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, finishes, or dimensions
• Maintain documentation and ensure quality standards are met
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a clean, safe workspace
Required:
• 3+ years of CNC machining experience (lathe, mill, or both)
• Strong setup experience including tooling, offsets, and prove-outs
• Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
• Experience with precision measurement tools
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
Preferred:
• Experience in high-mix, low-volume or job shop environments
• Familiarity with Fanuc, Mazak, or similar CNC controls
• Exposure to G-code editing or basic programming
• Experience with Mazatrol or CAM systems
• Background in process improvement or production optimization
