About the Work
In this position, you will operate manual and semi-automatic lathes to manufacture precision parts from a range of metals and alloys. You’ll move seamlessly from setup to measurement to inspection, ensuring every component meets drawing requirements and quality expectations.
What You’ll Do
- Set up and run manual or semi-automatic lathes to produce close-tolerance metal parts to specification.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to plan each job.
- Use precision measurement tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify dimensions and accuracy.
- Inspect finished components for defects and confirm compliance with quality standards.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on lathes and related shop equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment or process issues as they arise.
- Follow safety procedures consistently and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
- Handle additional tasks and support related duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- 2+ years of hands-on lathe operation in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, prints, and schematics.
- Solid command of precision measuring instruments and their proper use.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a track record of producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the capability to troubleshoot equipment issues.

Materials & Methods
