Strategic Sourcing Engineer, Fabrication & Machining (Hydropower)

Join a manufacturer powering the hydroelectric industry with large-scale fabricated and machined components. In this role, you will source critical fabrication and machining commodities for a growing North American operation—partnering with engineering, manufacturing, and quality to keep complex, engineered programs on target for cost, quality, and delivery.

A Day in the Role

  • Start by reviewing the project pipeline and identifying qualified vendors—bringing in new or alternate suppliers when the business demands it.
  • Collaborate with engineering to translate drawings, prints, and technical requirements into clear purchasing specifications aligned with delivery needs.
  • Evaluate manufacturability and value of engineered components to ensure feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
  • Run RFQs end-to-end—from early project stages through completion—comparing quotes, risks, and lead times.
  • Source welded fabrications and precision-machined parts, then negotiate and place orders within company policy.
  • Manage assigned commodities to meet cost and quality targets; monitor supplier performance against schedule.
  • Cultivate supplier relationships that yield continuous quality improvement and sustained cost savings.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 1–5 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management.
  • Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong negotiation abilities and comfort juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Plus: Manufacturing industry background, SAP familiarity, and French language skills.

  • Compensation: $90k annually
