As an Industrial Coffee Roasting Technician at Farmer Brothers, you’ll run large-batch roasting and grinding lines, uphold meticulous quality standards, and keep production humming safely and efficiently.
Shift & Schedule
Graveyard shift, Sunday–Thursday, 11:00 PM–7:30 AM.
Pay
- Step Pay Program with scheduled increases tied to defined milestones.
- Graveyard shift differential paid per company policy.
What you’ll do
- Roast and blend coffees to precise specifications and profiles.
- Follow blending procedures; master safe operation of roasting, blending, and grinding equipment; understand roast terminology and levels; perform cleaning and basic maintenance.
- Identify green and roasted beans—and common defects—by sight; conduct sample roasts to target levels; set up tastings/cuppings for evaluation.
- Describe cup characteristics using standard cupping protocols to confirm quality.
- Move and stage materials and finished product to required locations.
- Operate all equipment within the Roasting Department.
- Apply and document equipment maintenance procedures.
- Keep daily and weekly housekeeping to standard.
- Pitch in across departments when production needs arise.
- Operate a forklift safely.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Complies with Safe Quality Food 2000 Code (SQF 2000 Code).
Skills & Attributes
- Strong mechanical aptitude and curiosity.
- Proactive mindset—offer ideas to improve safety and efficiency.
- Excellent reading and writing; follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Comfort with basic math for data entry on process monitors and quality specs; use a computer for required entries.
- Collaborative team player.
- Lift up to 70 lbs as needed.
Proficiencies
- Forklift Licensed (or able to obtain promptly).
- Machine setups for production runs.

To account for cost-of-living differences, we apply location-based salary adjustments. Employees working in higher-cost cities may receive a geographical pay premium, which is determined based on market data and local economic factors.
