Advanced Manufacturing Maintenance & Controls Technician

About the Role

Keep a high-volume manufacturing plant running at peak performance by blending hands-on mechanical maintenance with modern electrical and automation skills. Whether your strengths lean toward machinery rebuilds or PLC troubleshooting, you’ll protect uptime through smart preventive maintenance, rapid diagnostics, and safe, high-quality repairs.

A Day in the Life

Start with scheduled PMs across critical assets, align a motor and swap a bearing before lunch, then dive into a controls issue on a Mitsubishi PLC in the afternoon—validating signals, checking a VFD, and reviewing schematics. You might wrap up by threading stainless line for a new pump install or commissioning a vision check using Keyence hardware.

Core Responsibilities

Plant and Mechanical Reliability

  • Support production by maintaining and repairing plant machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Execute complete preventive maintenance (PM) on schedule to extend equipment life and minimize downtime.
  • Follow and advocate all safety procedures, including LOTO and machine guarding best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and piping systems.
  • Perform bearing, shaft, and coupler installation with precision alignment and balancing.
  • Rebuild and install gearboxes and fluid pumps.
  • Conduct basic maintenance welding (MIG, Stick, TIG) as needed.
  • Thread and run black pipe, stainless steel pipe, and copper pipe.
  • Handle industrial motor installation, alignment, and balancing.
  • Plan and execute rigging and industrial machine installation activities.

Electrical and Controls

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and industrial equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose PLCs (Mitsubishi), VFDs, motors, and control circuits.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical components to reduce unplanned stops.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams for accurate work execution.
  • Work safely with 120/208/240/480V systems, three-phase power, wiring, and conduit installations.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production to improve equipment reliability and throughput.
  • Use test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and thermal imagers.
  • Assist in installing and commissioning new machinery and production lines.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade school certification preferred.
  • Experience (Mechanical focus): 2+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience preferred; motivated entry-level candidates may be considered at the lower end of the pay range.
  • Experience (Electrical focus): Typically 3–5 years as an industrial electrician in a manufacturing setting.

Preferred: Keyence Vision Systems experience.
