Morning starts at the machine—Star, Citizen, or Tsugami. You review the job packet, study the blueprint, and map out the setup. Collets and guide bushings are selected, tools are chosen and touched off, offsets are dialed in. With a measured confidence, you bring the CNC Swiss lathe to life.
Throughout the shift, you translate drawings into flawless components. You verify dimensions with micrometers and calipers, adjust as needed, and keep meticulous records of each run. When a spindle hum changes tone or a finish looks off, you troubleshoot quickly and keep downtime to a minimum. Routine maintenance is second nature—clean, inspect, and ensure the next cycle is as consistent as the last.
What You’ll Do
- Set up and operate CNC Swiss-type lathes (Star, Citizen, Tsugami) to manufacture tight-tolerance parts.
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to plan the machining approach.
- Select and install tools, fixtures, and materials appropriate to each assignment.
- Perform routine maintenance and resolve issues to sustain optimal machine performance.
- Conduct in-process inspections using precision gauges (micrometers, calipers) to meet exact specifications.
- Document production metrics and maintain accurate process records.
What You Bring
- Demonstrated experience as a CNC Swiss machinist or in a closely related role.
- Hands-on proficiency with Swiss equipment and control systems (Fanuc, Mitsubishi).
- Deep knowledge of machining practices, tooling, and material behavior.
- Ability to read and apply technical documentation and blueprints.
