Senior 5-Axis CAM Programmer — Aerospace Precision Machining

A day in this role
You start your morning reviewing complex aerospace models and drawings, translating GD&T into precise toolpaths for multi‑axis CNC equipment. Before lunch, you’re on the floor with machinists finalizing setups and dialing in tooling to shave seconds off cycle time without sacrificing quality. In the afternoon, you iterate on strategies, resolve a challenging surface finish issue, and collaborate with engineering and quality to validate results. You wrap the day by documenting improvements and queuing the next round of advanced machining projects.
What you’ll do
- Develop and optimize CNC programs for precision aerospace components, with emphasis on multi‑axis machining
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T to produce accurate, efficient toolpaths
- Partner with engineering, production, and quality to elevate machining efficiency and part quality
- Guide process development, including tooling selection and setup optimization
- Troubleshoot on the shop floor to resolve machining and programming issues quickly
- Lead continuous improvement efforts targeting cycle time, tooling performance, and machining strategies
What you bring
- 5+ years of CNC programming experience in a precision machining environment
- Hands-on experience with multi‑axis CNC machines
- Fluency in complex blueprints and GD&T
- Background in aerospace or other tight‑tolerance industries preferred
- Proven collaboration with machinists, engineers, and quality teams
