Mobile Equipment Technician (Machine Operator I) - Bay Minette, Alabama Contract position through May, 2027 Pay Rate: up to $37.25 per hour (based on proven work history)
Scope of work for the Mobile Equipment Technician (Machine Operator I): Daily Responsibilities:
Perform preventative maintenance on mobile equipment
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on mobile equipment including, but not limited to: Forklifts, Mobile Cranes, Manlifts, Personnel Carts, Pickup Trucks, Fuel Trucks, Sweepers, and other onsite Mobile Equipment
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain failures
Complete inspections and safety checks
Perform equipment overhauls and rebuilds
Conduct welding and fabrication repairs
Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and restore equipment to service
Maintain maintenance records and work orders
Ensure all safety devices are functioning properly
Conduct safety inspections and ensure equipment meets Plant Operational standards
Assist in developing, maintaining, and implementing preventative maintenance schedules for all mobile equipment
Ensure operator maintenance schedules for all mobile equipment
Ensure operator maintenance and cleanliness standards are maintained
Accurately document labor hours, parts used, inspections, and repairs
Maintain clean and orderly work areas
Promote safe work practices within the garage and field service equipment
Support equipment reliability and uptime objectives
Minimum Qualifications of the Mobile Equipment Technician (Machine Operator I):
High School Diploma or GED
2+ years of experience repairing industrial mobile equipment, heavy equipment, forklifts, loaders, telehandlers, or similar assets
Ability to diagnose and repair:
Diesel engines
Hydraulic systems
Electrical systems
Braking systems
Steering systems
Ability to read OEM service manuals and technical documentation
Ability to perform welding and fabrication repairs
MUST have a VALID Driver's License
Ability to work safely in an industrial manufacturing environment
Ability to work assigned shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required
Preferred Qualifications of the Mobile Equipment Technician (Machine Operator I):
Technical degree or trade school certification in diesel, heavy equipment, or industrial maintenance
ASE, OEM, or equivalent certification(s)
Experience with forklifts, wheel loaders, material handlers, telehandlers, and aerial lifts
Experience using CMMS systems (SAP, Prometheus, etc.)
Mobile equipment inspection and certification experience
