Chief of Staff

About the Role

This is a core leadership role at a fast-growing, early-stage B2B SaaS company in the AI-powered audit and compliance space, based in Berlin. You will work directly alongside a co-founder to translate ambitious vision into operational reality — sitting at the intersection of Growth, Strategy, Finance, and Operations.

This is not an administrative or executive assistant position. You will own the most complex, ambiguous challenges that don't yet have a home: architecting international expansion, refining AI-driven unit economics, or managing the machinery of a fundraising process. It's a genuine springboard to a CEO-level view of building a category-defining AI company.

What You'll Do

  • Partner directly with the co-founder to drive strategic priorities from concept through execution.
  • Lead and manage key strategic initiatives — e.g., AI-era pricing models, new market entry, funnel optimization.
  • Own financial modeling, P&L analysis, and SaaS metrics tracking to inform operating decisions.
  • Architect and execute international expansion into European markets.
  • Prepare investor narratives, data rooms, and materials for future fundraising rounds; manage ongoing investor relations.
  • Translate complex AI concepts and financial data into clear, persuasive communication for investors and the internal team.
  • Navigate EU regulatory frameworks (e.g., DORA, GDPR, AI Act) as they relate to business operations and product positioning.
  • Build operational infrastructure and processes that scale with the company.

What We're Looking For

Dealbreakers:

  • Proven financial fluency: P&L management, financial modeling, SaaS metrics.
  • English and German language proficiency at C1+ level (native or professional fluency).
  • 4+ years of experience in high-velocity environments — top-tier strategy consulting, investment banking, or a high-growth VC-backed startup.

Required:

  • High agency and autonomy in ambiguous, zero-to-one environments; ability to write and execute a plan without a prescribed playbook.
  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic initiatives end-to-end.
  • Fundraising and investor relations experience, including preparing investment narratives and data rooms.
  • Exceptional communicator: able to distill complexity into clear, persuasive narratives.

Nice to Have:

  • Prior experience in founder-led startups or small-team environments.
  • Experience with international expansion into European markets.
  • Familiarity with EU regulatory IT-auditing standards and compliance frameworks (DORA, GDPR, AI Act).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $100,000 – $120,000 annually.
  • Work at the leadership level of a well-funded, high-growth AI SaaS company.
  • Direct exposure to all facets of building and scaling a startup.

Location

  • Based in Berlin, Germany — on-site role.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available; candidates must have existing authorization to work in Germany.
