If you thrive on turning data into decisive actions and love the rhythm of production lines, this role is for you. As our Metrology & Manufacturing Quality Engineer, you’ll shape launches, solve complex problems, and elevate our QMS.
Your Impact
- Lead quality planning for new product introductions with full APQP rigor.
- Translate risk analysis into robust PFMEAs/DFMEAs, Control Plans, process flows, and work instructions.
- Support injection molding, stamping, and light assembly with hands-on floor presence.
- Keep supply uninterrupted by spotting trends, driving SPC-based actions, and coordinating cross-functional fixes.
What You'll Own
Problem Solving & Customer Focus
- Lead internal and customer-facing root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Investigate and document nonconformances tied to internal manufacturing and suppliers.
- Plan, coordinate, and interpret component and subassembly testing to determine scope and root cause.
- Author customer corrective action reports; review/approve supplier corrective actions.
- Approve supplier PPAPs aligned to AIAG standards and best practices.
Measurement Authority
- Act as the metrology authority: measurement systems analysis, GR&R, capability studies, and SPC.
- Advise on proper GD&T and tolerance stack-ups for drawings and assemblies.
- Verify FMVSS, ECE, ISO, and SAE testing—performed internally or via accredited third-party labs.
- Turn metrology insights into tooling and process corrections.
QMS Leadership
- Implement, sustain, and improve our QMS to ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949.
- Participate in internal audits and refine procedures and system processes.
- Track and drive improvements for COQ and COPQ.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
Do You Have What It Takes?
- Automotive experience preferred, including work with global OEM customers and suppliers.
- Strong communication across writing, speaking, and presentations.
- Deep analytical skills and root cause problem-solving ability.
- Leadership that influences and mentors cross-functional teams.
- Proven, time-sensitive decision-making grounded in data.
- Hands-on with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, DFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, and structured problem solving.
- Experience with manufacturing processes and/or tooling design.
- Audit experience within quality systems.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred.
- PC proficiency: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- 3+ years in Quality Assurance.
- History of innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
- Ability to build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Experience collaborating with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors.
Work Conditions
- Occasional standing, walking, sitting, stairs, kneeling, crouching, and lifting to 30 lbs.
- Valid passport; up to 20% domestic and international travel.
- Office and manufacturing floor within the same facility; moderate noise levels.
- Occasional outdoor, all-weather exposure.
