Manufacturing Process Excellence Engineer (Chemical Plants)

Our specialty chemicals portfolio—polymers, esters, surfactants, and complex acid/base systems—needs an engineer who thrives at the intersection of EH&S, quality, and operational excellence across our Northwest Georgia sites.

Your mission

  1. Be the catalyst: lead continuous improvement that boosts safety and efficiency across plants.
  2. Engineer solutions: conduct experiments, analyze performance, and resolve automation and process upsets.
  3. Unblock flow: execute scope, schedule, and cost-controlled projects to remove constraints and increase utilization.
  4. Raise the bar: ensure environmental and safety compliance, perform risk assessments, and harden preventive controls.
  5. Scale with confidence: transition new products from development to full-scale batch operations.
  6. Communicate with impact: produce SOPs, technical reports, and presentations for operators through executives.
  7. Drive alignment: partner with Commercial, R&D, Purchasing, and Transportation on cost-out initiatives.
  8. Champion culture: work closely with the EH&S Manager and Plant Managers to advance safety culture and initiatives.
  9. Own the numbers: manage controllable spend and capital to plan.
  10. Lead by example: participate in and occasionally lead Incident Reporting, GEMBA walks, and 5S.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering with chemical manufacturing background.
  • 5+ years in chemical plant operations with hands-on batch processing experience.
  • Proven record in process/equipment design, scale-up, and capital project leadership tied to productivity outcomes.
  • Lean and Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; strong quantitative and computer aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of polymer chemistry.
  • Fluency in OSHA, HAZMAT, and EPA requirements.

**Work Environment:

Work is typically performed in an inside, temperature-controlled environment. Works and travels throughout plant environment of varied temperatures and humidity, and wears personal protective equipment, as required.
