Chlorine Tank Farm Operations Lead

Step into a Shift Where Safety and Precision Lead the Way

At KIK Consumer Products, our brands help families clean, sanitize, and protect their homes and pools. Join a team that values accountability, collaboration, agility, and unwavering ethics as we manufacture trusted consumer products across North America.

A Day in This Role

At 2:00 pm, you take the handoff and scan the rail schedule. You brief operators on PPE, PSM/RMP checks, and the offloading plan. As railcars arrive, you lead safe chlorine offloading from rail and tanker systems, verify valves and scrubbers are in spec, and capture every reading in logs and manifests. Mid-shift, you coordinate inspections and preventive maintenance on tanks, piping, valves, scrubbers, and monitoring systems, and you coach teammates through best practices. If an alarm trips, you act as first responder—executing emergency procedures, leak response, and evacuation protocols with calm precision. Throughout the evening, you reconcile inventory, supervise contractors in the tank farm, and spot opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and personally execute safe offloading of chlorine from railcars, tank trucks, and other delivery systems following established SOPs and safety protocols.
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, DHS, and site requirements, including Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP). Enforce PPE and safety rules.
  • Manage daily tank farm operations: storage, transfers, and inventory of chlorine and related chemicals.
  • Serve as first responder for chlorine-related incidents, executing emergency, leak, and evacuation procedures.
  • Plan and coordinate inspections, PMs, and repairs on tanks, lines, valves, scrubbers, and monitoring equipment.
  • Maintain precise records: inventories, logs, manifests, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Provide daily direction, on-the-job training, and coaching; reinforce a strong safety culture and qualification standards.
  • Identify and drive improvements in safety, throughput, and reliability in tank farm operations.
  • Oversee contractors working in the tank farm to ensure adherence to site safety requirements.

Schedule, Pay, and Union

  • 2nd shift: Monday–Friday, 2:00 pm–10:30 pm; overtime as needed.
  • Base hourly rate: $28.75 per hour.
  • This position is a union position with Teamsters Local 986.
  • The actual salary may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, time in role, business line, and location.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years in chemical manufacturing, tank farm operations, or hazardous material handling.
  • Hands-on experience with chlorine or other highly hazardous chemicals strongly preferred.
  • Certified to operate a sit-down forklift; capable of moving chemical drums safely.
  • Working knowledge of PSM and RMP requirements.
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiar with railcar and tanker offloading systems.
  • Deep understanding of safety procedures, emergency response, and regulatory compliance.
  • Comfortable in a high-hazard, fast-paced setting; strong attention to detail; proficient with basic computer and documentation tools.
