Precision CNC Process Machinist

Your day, building precision

Walk into our Newington, NH machine shop for 2nd shift, review the day’s prints and sketches, and plan out the best way to remove or form metal to exacting tolerances. You’ll choose the tooling, set up your machines, and develop the right process to hit spec the first time. You’ll report to the Machine Shop Supervisor and work 100% onsite. Local candidates to the Newington area only.

What you’ll do

  • Operate a range of metal-removal and metal-forming equipment you’re qualified on per the department training matrix, often running multiple machines at once when proximity and training allow.
  • Select and use precision measuring devices and hand tools to verify close-tolerance work.
  • Interpret drawings, sketches, and written or verbal instructions in alignment with PP-09-01.
  • Perform technical machining to engineering drawings and documented instructions, maintaining required tolerances throughout.
  • Plan setups; load or coordinate loading of your machining center; adjust for part size and complexity, understanding setup time will vary.
  • Determine when jigs/fixtures are needed—and fabricate them.
  • When qualified, modify and troubleshoot machining programs as needed (not required for all).
  • Own quality during the machining process and document as required.
  • Practice 5S, rigorous housekeeping, and all safety/criticality procedures.
  • Take direction from your supervisor or team coordinator while working with minimal guidance; support general tasks assigned by management.

Shift and location

  • 2nd shift only.
  • 100% onsite in Newington, NH; must be local.
  • All experience levels encouraged—final level determined post-interview based on skill and plant coverage needs.

What you bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience with operational proficiency comparable to a Westinghouse–Newington Machinist B or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of CNC G-code.
  • Hands-on understanding of tooling, fixtures, and machine setup to produce quality parts.
  • Proven 5S habits and safe work practices.
  • Ability to perform close-tolerance work to engineering drawings and instructions.
  • Capability to operate multiple machine tool types with minimal additional training.
  • Competence in fabricating jigs and tooling.
  • English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
  • Programming knowledge preferred.
