Role: Die Casting Setup & Operations Technician

Location: Sheboygan, WI — Onsite (Union) — Gardner Denver Thomas, 1419 Illinois Ave., Sheboygan, WI 53081

Schedule: 3rd Shift — Start Sunday 11:00 p.m.; end Friday 7:00 a.m. (11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.)

A day in your life

When your shift starts, you’ll move from setup to production with precision and purpose:

  • Inspect die condition and visually verify parts quality before and during runs.
  • Remove and install die casting dies; dial in the machine to meet process parameters.
  • Set up die cast machines for production; have your setup checked by a Supervisor or Group Leader before you start the run.
  • Assist maintenance with repairs as directed to minimize downtime.
  • Configure support equipment as needed: ladle, auto-spray, robotic systems, and trim press.
  • Follow gauging/part check procedures and timing-based checks to ensure dimensional conformance.
  • Work from verbal instructions and Process Sheets to meet safety, quality, and throughput goals.

What you bring

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in a die casting environment.

Physical demands, tools, and environment

  • Standing with walking, bending, and stooping; light materials handled regularly; heavier materials may be handled during machine setup.
  • Lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying: 5 lbs. constantly, 35 lbs. frequently, 75 lbs. occasionally.
  • Hazards include serious cuts, burns, bruises, and potential permanent injury—goggles and heavy gloves are required. With caution, risks are minimized.
  • Regular exposure to heat, dirt, grease, fumes, and noise levels exceeding 85 dB (hearing protection required when exposure exceeds 85 dB).
  • Use small hand tools (wrenches, mallet, chisel, screwdrivers, etc.) and hoists/lift or hand trucks for moving and installing dies.

Preferences

  • Comfort working from verbal direction from a supervisor.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret simple drawings.
