Industrial Electrical Maintenance Specialist

Role Snapshot

  • Location: Meriden, CT 06450 (On-site)
  • Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM; overtime available
  • Compensation: $38/hour (W2)
  • Engagement: Contract-to-hire, 12 months

A Day in the Life

You start your shift by reviewing the overnight CMMS tickets, prioritizing a VFD fault on a process pump and a lighting outage in a cleanroom corridor. After a safe work briefing, you isolate energy sources, verify absence of voltage, and dive into troubleshooting—moving from schematics to MCCs and back to field devices. By mid-morning, the VFD is retuned and the line is back to full rate. After lunch, you partner with automation and instrumentation teammates to bring a new panel online for an HVAC upgrade, confirming wiring against drawings and testing for code compliance. You close the day logging accurate maintenance records, contributing to a CAPA on a recurring transformer trip, and identifying an energy-efficiency opportunity on a bank of lighting controls.

What You’ll Tackle

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and controls across manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse, and utility areas.
  • Support production equipment, utility systems, HVAC equipment, cleanroom infrastructure, and facility support systems to maximize uptime.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to drive reliability and asset life.
  • Diagnose issues involving motors, VFDs, MCCs, transformers, distribution panels, lighting systems, and power distribution up to 480V.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Contribute to equipment installations, facility upgrades, and capital improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with automation, instrumentation, and controls personnel to resolve integrated system faults.
  • Conduct inspections and testing to ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, company standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns and facility emergencies.
  • Maintain precise records in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Participate in root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Advance energy efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and quality system requirements.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED.
