Industrial Electrical Estimating Specialist

Day in the life

Picture starting your day by opening a fresh bid package for an industrial facility, then translating drawings and specifications into a practical build plan. You perform precise takeoffs from electrical drawings, P&IDs, and isometric or multi-view details. You walk the site to validate scope, coordinate with construction managers and field electricians to confirm constructability, and pressure-test your approach with engineers. You check in with manufacturers for product data and pricing, engage inspectors to align on permitting, and ensure every estimate reflects real installation constraints.

As the estimate takes shape, you specify wire, conduit, fittings, and controls; weigh subcontractor scopes; and plot procurement and delivery strategies. Safety is embedded in your work, incorporating LOTO, arc flash, and site-specific protocols. You uphold NEC / NFPA 70 and OSHA (29 CFR 1926), track labor and schedule assumptions, and keep meticulous notes on basis, revisions, and risks. Finally, you review cost drivers and seek out better, faster, safer ways to execute.
