Denver, CO — Hybrid
Picture your week: three days on site at power generation plants, two days remote, and extra site time when cranes are up and contractors are mobilized. You move projects from first conversation to commissioning, coordinating with operators, reliability engineers, vendors, and field crews to deliver safe, on-spec outcomes. That’s the rhythm of this Capital Projects Engineer role supporting a portfolio of emergent and small-to-mid capital initiatives across a generation fleet—while also contributing to larger base and major projects.
What you’ll lead
- Own multiple capital projects end-to-end—from concept and scope through turnover and closeout
- Partner with Operations and Reliability to surface needs, define scope and justification, and align on priorities
- Develop scopes of work, technical specs, estimates, and project documentation
- Navigate internal capital request/approval workflows for emergent work
- Run competitive bid events, select vendors, and procure materials and equipment
- Direct contractors in the field for safe, compliant execution aligned to project requirements
- Join daily planning (POD) meetings to coordinate priorities and ongoing tasks
- Sequence deliveries, installations, and site activities to protect schedules
- Support commissioning, punch list resolution, and formal closeout
- Track budgets, schedules, and risks with tools like Excel, SharePoint, and project systems
- Review drawings and as-builts using document systems (e.g., ProjectWise)
Schedule
Standard Monday–Friday with flexibility and occasional extended hours tied to project execution. Approximately three on-site days weekly; on-site presence increases during active construction and commissioning.

- BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related)
- 2+ years in engineering or project management within plant, manufacturing, or industrial settings
- Hands-on experience collaborating with contractors, vendors, and external partners
- Strength in scope development, budgeting, and coordinating field execution
