AI Engineer Intern / Working Student

About the Role

A fast-growing, Y Combinator-backed healthtech startup is looking for an AI Engineer Intern / Working Student to join a small, talent-dense team in Munich. You'll work hands-on with LLM pipelines, data engineering, and product-quality evaluation to help build production AI systems that power real customer-facing products in the pharmaceutical and life sciences space. This is a high-ownership, in-person role where you'll collaborate directly with senior engineers on end-to-end solutions that matter to customers.

What You'll Do

  • Develop LLM-based extraction pipelines, including prompting, parsing, and producing structured outputs.
  • Build and monitor data ingestion and ETL workflows to keep pipelines reliable.
  • Write Python code for data cleaning, validation, and automation tasks.
  • Perform LLM evaluations and quality checks to measure and improve output quality.
  • Contribute to end-to-end solutions that solve real-world customer problems.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on customer-facing AI and data systems.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Currently enrolled as a student in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or a related field (undergraduate or graduate).
  • Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and scripting.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying and analysis.
  • Hands-on experience building or integrating LLM pipelines.
  • Experience with ETL and data ingestion workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Comfortable thriving in an ambiguity-driven, fast-moving startup environment.
  • Eligible to work in Germany without visa sponsorship; able to work in-person in Munich.

Location

This is a fully on-site role based in Munich, Germany. Candidates must be available to work in-person and legally permitted to work in Germany. Visa sponsorship is not available.
