Precision Deburring Specialist – Medical Device Components

  • Big Lake, MN
  • 16 - 22 USD Hourly

What Your Day Looks Like

Reporting to the cell lead, you are the last hands on precision-machined components before they move to final processing, assembly, or shipment. At TOMZ, we produce parts through high‑precision metal machining, finishing, assembly, and anodize processes for Medical Devices. In this role, you remove burrs, break edges, smooth surfaces, and confirm that every part meets specifications—while maintaining ISO 13485 documentation and the TOMZ Quality Management System (QMS).

Start of Shift

  • Review work orders, prints, and specifications so each part aligns with customer and internal requirements.
  • Set up your station with hand tools (files, scrapers, deburr knives, sandpaper) and power tools, plus bead blast or tumbling equipment as applicable.

Hands-On Finishing

  • Perform deburring, polishing, and surface finishing on machined or fabricated components—especially small, delicate parts that demand a steady hand.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and visual inspection to verify quality and dimensional conformity.
  • Maintain accuracy and a quality-first mindset while meeting production goals and timelines.

Quality & Collaboration

  • Document work per ISO 13485 and adhere to the TOMZ QMS.
  • Report nonconforming parts or material issues to production or quality personnel promptly.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and company procedures; keep tools and your workstation clean and organized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Strong manual dexterity, hand‑eye coordination, and fine motor control for small components.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints and interpret work instructions.
  • Comfort with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Meticulous attention to detail; precision and quality focus.
  • Time management to meet deadlines without sacrificing standards.
  • Clear communication, teamwork, problem‑solving, and adaptability.

Education

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent directly transferable work experience (Manufacturing or Engineering discipline preferred).
  • Technical school certification is strongly preferred.

Preferred Background

  • Experience in deburring, machining, or a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to regulated industries (e.g., Aerospace, Defense, Pharmaceutical).

Physical & Work Environment

  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs; use team lift or mechanical assistance above that weight.
  • Regular exposure to oil, grease, dust, metal particles, sparks, and sharp‑edged materials; some tasks may require PPE or engineering controls.
  • Capability to sit or stand for extended periods with sustained visual focus for detailed work.
  • Manufacturing floor setting with moderate noise levels.
