The corporate Transportation Manager is responsible for planning, direction, and coordination of all transportation operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective movement of all material and goods related to Carlex’s OE and aftermarket business. This position will work directly with MP&L Managers at each Carlex location to ensure logistics strategy is being executed in most efficient way.
**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
**
Develop, implement, and manage ongoing short and long term logistics strategy for Carlex.
Manage all aspects of spend and reporting for all logistics activities for plants and AGS
Plan, direct, and manage activities of 3rd party logistics partner(s)
Competitively bid Carlex requirements within the market.
Negotiate best rates among transportation and logistics costs
Work with Carlex manufacturing, warehouse operations, and suppliers to oversee coordination of best cost-effective routes
Develop and measure key performance metrics related to supply chain management
Develop and execute savings initiatives, involving 3PL and plant MP&L personnel
Submit annual freight estimate for finance budgeting and monthly reporting
Submit monthly freight accrual and supervise freight payment activities
Ensure transportation activities are compliant with State and Federal regulations in respective areas
Provide critical input in new production quotes through management of an ongoing component and inter-company freight cost calculator
Track SOP / EOP / Part Transfers to identify and proactively manage significant changes to transportation routes
Supervise trade advisor services and broker actions to ensure Carlex is compliant with US import and Export regulations.
Resolve claim issues as necessary
Approve relevant invoices as they occur
Experience
Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
10+ years of experience in Logistics industry
5+ years of experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment
Other Requirements:
Highly experienced in, and strong understanding of, government regulations related to supply chain
Experience with strategic planning and implementation
Experience with the coordination of personnel and resources
Work beyond traditional 40 hours per week may be required as work load or projects dictates, including weekends and holidays
Up to 75% travel to Carlex facilities on regular basis
Valid Driver’s license
