PLC Automation Engineer – Optical Fiber Production

What problems will you solve?

  • Create and sustain PLC programs that control manufacturing processes and support equipment for both production and facilities.
  • Provide PC and PLC controls expertise to keep optical fiber lines stable, safe, and efficient.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and control software issues in real time alongside technical staff.
  • Lead and support commissioning activities for new production equipment.
  • Maintain rigorous program and critical file backups per plant standards.
  • Comply with all applicable safety procedures and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 HSE guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or a member of management.

What you will bring to the team

  • B.S. in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Hands-on programming experience with Rockwell Allen-Bradley, Schneider, and or Siemens PLCs.
  • Sharp troubleshooting skills and methodical problem-solving.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and teamwork.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Meticulous, quality-focused mindset.
  • Self-directed and comfortable working with minimal supervision.

Great to have

  • Experience in fiber optic or other highly automated manufacturing settings.
  • Depth in IEC PLC languages: Ladder, Sequential function charts, Structured text, and Function Block Diagrams.
  • Knowledge of Profibus, Ethernet, and Modbus+ communication protocols.
  • HMI application development, including PC-to-PLC and PC-to-Database transactions.
  • Experience programming servo drives and motion controllers.
