Every micron counts. Your metrology expertise ensures that incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products conform to drawing requirements so manufacturing runs smoothly and customers receive flawless parts.

Core responsibilities

  • Intake verification: confirm supplier material specifications through visual and dimensional testing; coordinate rejects and returns.
  • In-process assurance: conduct visual/dimensional checks on the floor, communicate required adjustments, and keep processes within tolerance.
  • Final acceptance: run required tests to approve completed product lots.
  • Nonconformance handling: return items for rework as needed and complete all confirming documentation.
  • Recordkeeping: produce accurate reports and logs to document inspection outcomes.
  • Equipment readiness: follow operating procedures, maintain calibration status, and arrange repairs to keep gages and instruments reliable.
  • Roving audits: perform spot checks of parts and systems for ongoing compliance.
  • First-piece/FAI: complete first-piece inspections using manual tools and advanced systems such as CMM and machine vision.

What you bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 3+ years in a high-speed precision machining setting.
  • Fluent communication skills and a team-first mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent print reading with solid GD&T application.
  • Hands-on experience with first-article inspections and capability studies; skilled at developing and maintaining inspection documentation.

Technical toolkit

  • CMM, optical comparator, vision and non-contact systems; micrometers, calipers, and other handheld gages.
  • Gage R&R, SPC/control/run/trend charting, process/equipment capability studies.
  • Inspection planning, full layout from blueprints, and verification of material/process certs and test reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and quality software.

Preferred experience

  • Calibration of measuring instruments.
  • Operation of CMM and OGP vision systems (or equivalent).
  • Aerospace quality experience and familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100.
  • Lean manufacturing practices and Six Sigma Green Belt (or equivalent) knowledge.
