TekPro is partnering with a leading precision manufacturer in the Downers Grove area to bring on an experienced CNC Programmer in a full-time, direct hire capacity. This established shop is known for turning out high-quality, complex, tight-tolerance parts and offers a stable home for your craft.
A day in the life
You start your morning reviewing new prints and CAD models for complex parts. You translate GD&T into efficient toolpaths, set strategies for roughing and finishing, and choose the right tooling, speeds, and feeds. By midday, you’re shoulder-to-shoulder with machinists and engineers, refining programs and shaving seconds off cycle times. In the afternoon, you’re on the floor, troubleshooting a tricky feature on a multi-axis machine and tweaking code to hold tolerance. Before you wrap, you document improvements and line up tomorrow’s jobs.
What you’ll do
- Build, edit, and refine CNC programs for milling and/or turning applications
- Read blueprints and interpret CAD models and GD&T to produce accurate toolpaths
- Select tooling and define speeds/feeds and machining strategies for maximum throughput
- Partner with machinists, engineers, and production to improve processes
- Troubleshoot programming and on-machine issues to keep parts on spec
- Drive continuous improvement and reduce cycle times across jobs
What you bring
- 3+ years programming in a CNC machining environment
- Strong command of milling, turning, and multi-axis machining
- Fluency in reading prints and GD&T
- Experience with CAM platforms such as Mastercam, NX CAM, Fusion 360, or GibbsCAM (or similar)
- Hands-on machining background strongly preferred
- Detail orientation and strong problem-solving skills
Compensation & benefits
- Salary: $90,000–$115,000 per year, based on experience
