Coil‑Fed Fin Stamping Press Technician

Step onto the fin line and make every stroke count

When your shift begins, you’re the person who brings the press line to life. You review the print, confirm tooling, stage the coil, and guide the setup so parts come off the die meeting spec on the first hit. Throughout the run, you adjust stroke, feed, and die protection to keep material flowing, verify dimensions with micrometers and calipers, and troubleshoot anything that threatens quality or uptime. You’re the calm in a fast-paced manufacturing environment—keeping people safe, meeting schedule, and driving down scrap.

In this role, you’ll model BAC’s values of Earning Trust, Embracing Responsibility, Showing Courage, and Driving Innovation while supporting our shared purpose of doing the right thing in the right way.

What you’ll do

  • Run the line: Set up, operate, and monitor mechanical and hydraulic presses to engineering drawings, work instructions, and production plans.
  • Own die changeovers: Safely install, remove, align, and secure dies using approved cranes, forklifts, and material-handling equipment; verify setup prior to operation.
  • Feed and flow: Load and thread coil; set feeders, straighteners, feed length, sensors, and line controls for steady material flow.
  • Dial it in: Adjust stroke, speed, tonnage, air pressure, shut height, feed settings, and die protection to hit spec.
  • Verify quality: Perform first-piece and in-process inspections; use calipers, micrometers, and gauges to confirm dimensions and tolerances; flag nonconforming parts.
  • Troubleshoot fast: Resolve press, tooling, material, feed, and sensor issues; escalate to Maintenance, Tooling, Quality, or Production leadership when needed to minimize downtime.
  • Care for equipment: Inspect, clean, lubricate, and complete basic preventive maintenance; report wear, leaks, or damage.
  • Protect people and product: Follow machine guarding, LOTO, PPE, and safe material-handling procedures; report unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Hit the numbers: Meet output goals while limiting scrap, rework, waste, downtime, and changeover time.
  • Document the work: Accurately record production, inspection, setups, downtime, scrap, and rework.
  • Keep it organized: Maintain a clean, orderly workstation to 5S standards.
  • Improve every day: Communicate across Production, Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, and Material Handling; participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Follow the standard: Adhere to company policies, standard work, operating procedures, quality requirements, and environmental and safety standards.
