POSITION OVERVIEW

An experience manufacturer is seeking experienced Heat Treaters to join our production team in South Gate, CA. In this role, you will operate heat treatment equipment and furnaces to process aluminum materials to precise specifications. You play a critical role in ensuring product quality, dimensional integrity, and material properties meet customer and industry standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up, operate, and monitor heat treatment furnaces and related equipment
  • Load and unload parts, fixtures, and racks into furnaces safely and accurately
  • Follow process specifications, work orders, and heat treat cycles for aluminum alloys
  • Monitor furnace temperatures, cycle times, and atmosphere controls throughout treatment
  • Perform quenching operations using water, oil, or air as required by specifications
  • Conduct in-process inspections and document results including temperatures and times
  • Identify and report material defects, equipment issues, or out-of-spec conditions
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform basic preventive maintenance
  • Follow all safety protocols including proper PPE use and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Work collaboratively with quality control, production, and shipping teams

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in heat treating, metal processing, or a related manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with aluminum alloys and heat treatment processes (annealing, aging, solution heat treat)
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, process sheets, and technical instructions
  • Basic math skills for temperature conversions, time calculations, and documentation
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Reliable attendance and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a hot, industrial manufacturing environment
  • High school diploma or GED preferred

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with aluminum-specific heat treatment including T4, T5, T6, or T73 tempers
  • Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment
  • Familiarity with NADCAP, AMS, or aerospace heat treat specifications
  • Prior experience in aerospace, automotive, or precision manufacturing
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
