Primavera P6 Planner, Infrastructure Projects

Primavera P6 Planner, Infrastructure Projects

Why this role

Build schedules that drive delivery on complex civil infrastructure. Translate the contract into a realistic plan, keep the critical path visible, and equip teams to execute with confidence.

Impact areas

  • Partner with Project Managers, Estimating, and Operations leaders to craft baseline CPM schedules in Primavera P6.
  • Digest plans, specs, bid packages, and contract language to design schedule structure and construction sequencing.
  • Set up calendars, WBS, activities, relationships, durations, milestones, constraints, and coding to P6 best practice.
  • Integrate contractual milestones; procurement and submittal cycles; utility coordination; traffic control; testing; and closeout.
  • Bring practical heavy civil know‑how to scheduling—underground utilities, street/roadway reconstruction, and bridge operations.
  • Status and update schedules to reflect progress, resequencing, change orders, and impacts; produce short‑interval look‑aheads.
  • Develop what‑if and recovery schedules to evaluate options and recommend corrective actions.
  • Highlight shifts to critical path, float, sequencing, and milestone dates; brief stakeholders on implications.
  • Carry estimating data (budgets, quantities, production rates) into baselines and look‑ahead plans for performance tracking.
  • Organize quantities, production, labor/cost, and durations for PMs to compare plan vs. actual.
  • Identify slippage, constraints, and risks early and present recovery insights promptly.
  • Prepare TIAs, fragnets, and exhibits for delays, changes, differing site conditions, utility conflicts, and change orders.
  • Advance standardized scheduling templates, reporting, and project controls processes across Core Operations.
  • Communicate results, risks, trends, and recommendations to PMs, the Division Manager, and Leadership.
  • Maintain organized schedule records and supporting files; complete related duties as assigned.

Must-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s/Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar strongly preferred.
  • 3–5 years in construction scheduling or project controls, preferably in heavy civil, roadway, utility, bridge, or infrastructure.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and a track record of independently building complete CPM baselines from project documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy civil methods and sequencing—utilities, streets/roadways, and bridge construction.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, contracts, bids, project budgets, and scheduling requirements.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency; Microsoft Project and other project controls or construction‑management systems experience preferred.

Physical requirements

  • Extended periods of sitting; routine standing/walking; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent use of computers and office equipment requiring fine motor skills and hand‑eye coordination.
  • Ability to navigate outdoor construction sites and maintain the mobility/stamina needed for site visits and meetings.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision plans
  • Company‑paid basic dental, life, and short‑/long‑term disability
  • Voluntary life, accident, critical illness, and pet insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Quarterly bonus program
  • PTO, paid holidays, and paid winter company break (eligible roles)
