We are seeking an experienced and technically minded Technical Sales Manager to lead our global technical sales function. This role is ideal for someone with a background in sensory science, brewing, or food and beverage manufacturing (particularly in quality or production roles), who can confidently lead a technical sales team, manage key multinational accounts, and work collaboratively with internal teams.
This role is fully remote, but you must be UK-based and able to travel to our Leatherhead office 1–2 times per month to connect with our internal teams across production, logistics, finance, and customer support.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Management
Lead and manage a team of four direct reports within the technical sales team
Provide coaching, support, and performance management to team members
Promote a collaborative, high-performance culture
Account Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with multinational clients across food, beverage, brewing, and FMCG sectors
Work directly with client-side technical, QA, production, and R&D teams
Act as the senior point of contact for customer queries, resolving complex issues and ensuring high levels of service
Sales Operations and Business Development
Own the full sales process from lead generation to onboarding and post-sales support
Develop and deliver tailored proposals and service packages in line with pricing and margin objectives
Identify and evaluate new commercial opportunities, including new markets and service offerings
Attend international client visits and trade events (2–4 trips per year)
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with logistics, production, accounts, and customer support to ensure smooth service delivery
Provide input into sales strategy, forecasting, and revenue planning alongside the Sales & Marketing Director
Attend in-person team meetings in the Leatherhead office regularly to maintain visibility and alignment
Essential Experience and Technical Requirements
Strong background in sensory science, brewing, or food & beverage manufacturing, particularly in quality, lab, or production roles
Practical understanding of QA/QC systems, sensory evaluation, and flavour profiling
Experience in technical sales, account management, or customer-facing technical roles
Prior experience managing or mentoring a technical team
Ability to engage confidently with technical stakeholders, including brewers, laboratory managers, and QA leads
Highly organised, commercially aware, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Degree in food science, brewing, chemistry, or a related technical field
Experience delivering technical training or onboarding
Familiarity with international sales or working with global clients
