Mechanical Engineer I – Nuclear Fatigue & Integrity Analysis

The Role

In this early-career mechanical engineering position, you will support fatigue aging management for nuclear power plants. You’ll report to the Manager, Reactor Vessel and Containment Vessel Design & Analysis and work in a hybrid arrangement based at Westinghouse Headquarters in Cranberry, PA (Greater Pittsburgh Area), with 2 in-office days each week.

What a Typical Week May Include

  • Partnering with a team to execute ASME Section III and Section XI analyses that underpin the structural integrity of reactor and containment components.
  • Producing and reviewing ASME design specifications and design reports, and developing design and assembly drawings that move concepts into buildable solutions.
  • Collaborating with suppliers, providing guidance through manufacturing and assembly to ensure requirements are met.
  • Coordinating with multi-disciplinary specialists across Westinghouse to drive design, qualification, fabrication, and installation of nuclear components.
  • Sharing progress and insights by presenting technical and project updates to peers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required.
  • Clear, concise technical writing skills to author and verify calculation notes and topical reports.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and engage effectively with teammates on engineering issues.
  • Expectation to be working toward a professional engineering license.
  • 1+ years of experience with: Ansys Workbench / APDL, MATLAB, Mathcad.

Compensation

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $58,400 to $73,000 per year.
