Position Overview
We are seeking a Process Improvement Engineer to drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment. This role will focus on analyzing current processes, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing solutions to improve productivity, reduce waste, and optimize performance.
This is a hands-on, data-driven engineering role centered around time studies, process mapping, and Lean methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
Process Analysis & Improvement
- Conduct time studies to evaluate labor efficiency, cycle times, and process bottlenecks
- Develop and maintain process flow diagrams and value stream maps
- Identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce waste, and optimize workflows
- Implement process improvements to increase efficiency, quality, and productivity
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
- Apply Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, Kaizen, waste reduction, standard work)
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across production and operations
- Support development of standardized processes and best practices
Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, and Pareto analysis
- Troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Monitor results and ensure sustainability of improvements
Data & Performance Tracking
- Analyze production data, KPIs, and operational metrics
- Track improvements and report on key performance indicators (efficiency, scrap, downtime, etc.)
- Utilize data to support decision-making and continuous improvement strategies
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with production, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams
- Support training and implementation of new processes on the production floor
- Assist in developing a culture of continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field required)
- 5+ years of experience in process engineering or continuous improvement within manufacturing
- Strong experience with:- Time studies
- Process flow mapping / value stream mapping
- Lean manufacturing principles
- Root cause analysis tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)
- Experience in high-volume or complex manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with ERP or production tracking systems
