Shape a Safety-First Culture in Chelmsford

Novolex is seeking a hands-on HSE leader to elevate compliance, reduce risk, and embed safety into everyday decisions at our Chelmsford, MA manufacturing site.

Your Mission

  • Drive continuous improvement in environmental, health, and safety performance while ensuring full legal and corporate compliance.
  • Influence and align cross-functional teams, serving as an active voice on the site leadership team.
  • Foster engagement through a proactive Safety Committee and targeted training programs.

Key Outcomes

  • Operate an active Safety Committee and deliver regular communications that raise awareness and action.
  • Implement training that addresses site-specific risks and corporate standards, from LOTO to PIT and Hearing Conservation.
  • Investigate injuries, illnesses, and near misses using root-cause methods; implement and verify corrective actions.
  • Maintain emergency response plans and coordinate drills that validate readiness.
  • Author and sustain compliant EHS procedures and Safe Operating Procedures aligned with regulations.
  • File OSHA and other governmental reports accurately and on schedule.
  • Publish leading and lagging metrics for stakeholders; communicate trends and countermeasures.
  • Complete routine plant audits; partner with operations and maintenance to remediate hazards quickly.
  • Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) inventory and accessibility.
  • Support additional EHS initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BS degree (safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental discipline preferred) with 3–5 years of related experience.
  • Spanish bilingual capability preferred.
  • Advanced organizational skills with proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, prioritization, and resilience under deadline pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence without authority and drive site-wide change.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours when needed; the site runs 24/5 with occasional weekends. Off-hour presence may be required for training, meetings, and incident investigations.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, climb, and occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Comfort with seasonal heat/cold and equipment noise; consistent use of required PPE.

Pay & Benefits

Compensation range: $100,000–$125,000 plus bonus and benefits. This range reflects target pay across US locations; actual pay is based on relevant skills, experience, and education/training. It is uncommon to start at the top of the range; final compensation depends on specific circumstances.
