Product Engineer (Full-Stack)

About the Role

Join a pre-seed energy tech startup based in Berlin that is reshaping how European households manage and reduce electricity costs. As a Product Engineer, you will sit at the intersection of customer discovery, end-to-end delivery, and engineering culture — turning complex energy retail domain challenges into intuitive, production-grade experiences. This is a high-ownership, high-impact role on a small, mission-driven team where your work directly moves the business.

What You'll Do

  • Engage directly with customers to dissect problems and develop product intuition that guides engineering decisions.
  • Ship end-to-end solutions across the full stack, taking features from discovery through to production.
  • Leverage AI-native development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) as force multipliers to accelerate delivery and increase impact.
  • Own zero-to-one problems such as dunning workflows, customer portal re-engineering, and billing infrastructure.
  • Prioritize and curate the build backlog — deciding what to build, what to skip, and when to kill initiatives.
  • Solve core energy retail challenges: billing, procurement, customer retention, and cost optimization.
  • Shape engineering culture, tooling, and processes, and help raise the bar as the team grows.
  • Stay at the frontier of new tools and methods and bring the rest of the team along.

What We're Looking For

Must-haves:

  • Demonstrated track record of shipping real product work end-to-end — we assess what you've built, not just years on a résumé.
  • 2+ years of software engineering experience delivering full-stack products to production.
  • Proven experience with AI-native development tools and AI-assisted coding workflows.
  • Experience solving billing, procurement, customer retention, or cost-optimization problems in an energy retail or similar consumer-facing domain.
  • High ownership mindset, strong judgment, and comfort operating in ambiguity in an early-stage environment.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience shaping engineering culture, tooling, or processes on a small or early-stage team.
  • Contributions to high-engineering-bar environments or successful open-source projects.
  • Background in European energy markets, smart home hardware ecosystems (EVs, heat pumps, solar), or regulated utility sectors.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: €80,000 – €120,000 (USD equivalent) annually, depending on experience.
  • Opportunity for outsized equity and impact at an early-stage, venture-backed startup.
  • Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Location

This is an on-site role based in Berlin, Germany. Remote-only applicants will not be considered. The team works together in person in central Berlin.
