Shape Clean Energy Controls from Day One

Join WECTEC Staffing Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, and contribute to Westinghouse’s mission of delivering clean energy solutions. Based in Juno Beach, FL, this 1-year contract (W-2) role places you at the center of PLC/SCADA engineering for large-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects.

A day in the life

You’ll move from whiteboard to field, turning requirements into reliable automation. In the morning, you might polish the control narrative and Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs) for a new PV+BESS site. Midday, you’re configuring SCADA points, testing Ignition HMI screens, and validating PLC logic in function block, structured text, and ladder. By afternoon, you’re driving Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), resolving integration issues with stakeholders, and documenting any design updates. When systems are ready, you’ll support commissioning and startup to bring clean energy online safely and efficiently.

What you’ll deliver

• End-to-end PLC-based control solutions for renewable energy installations
• Robust PLC programming using function blocks, structured text, and ladder logic
• SCADA configuration and maintenance for PV and BESS monitoring/control
• HMI development and testing on the Ignition platform
• Project documentation: control narratives, O&M manuals, and FRDs
• Factory Acceptance Testing leadership and issue resolution
• Timely troubleshooting and corrective action for control systems
• Detailed records of designs, configurations, and change history
• On-the-ground support for commissioning and startup

What you bring

• Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
• 15 years of PLC programming and industrial controls experience
• Hands-on expertise with function blocks, structured text, and ladder logic
• Protocol fluency: Modbus, DNP3, OPC, etc.
• Experience with Schneider M340 or M580 PLCs
• Ignition HMI development experience
• Working knowledge of solar PV and battery storage systems
• Solid grasp of electrical power systems and instrumentation
• Full project lifecycle exposure from design through commissioning
• Familiarity with industry best practices for control systems

Compensation & benefits

• Estimated base pay: $65.00/hr. to 70.00/hr. (dependent on experience, qualifications, and skills)
